Tell me a bit about your business.

I am a Transformational Life Coach and support women to find renewed clarity and confidence. As women, we go through transitions in life that can lead us to lose sight of what we want or the confidence to go after it. This can leave us feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, unfulfilled or stuck. Sometimes this is linked to us having kids and the pressure of trying to juggle a lot. Other times it may result from changes in our bodies, such as the menopause, or to specific life events like redundancy or divorce.

What made you decide to start it?

My husband & I had our own business. I’d increasingly become frustrated with the work I was doing though and had been reading a lot of personal development books. One day an advert for a Free Taster Day for the Diploma in Transformational Coaching had popped up on my Instagram feed. The power of the algorithm! I went along and by the end of the day had decided to sign up. I did my Diploma and then set up my own Coaching Practice.

What’s a typical day/week like in your shoes?

Life has changed during COVID-19. None of the usual school runs & kid’s activities, and the kids are getting to sleep in a bit longer! During the week I get up at 6am and do Yoga with Adriene. I then usually work for an hour or so then get the kids up and sort breakfast and then school/work begins. No two days are the same for me which I love. I need variety in my life! I see clients over Zoom (thank goodness for technology) and run The Soul Traders Club on a Friday. The rest of the time I’m working on social media, talking to prospective clients & existing contacts, holding workshops and preparing for future workshops and courses.

What’s been the most difficult thing to get your head around when you started up?

Having to embrace social media!

Have you encountered any hiccups along the way?

I definitely hadn’t foreseen COVID-19 and everyone being at home for months on end!

How do you stay motivated?

I have a clear vision for my life – the people I want to spend my time with, the things I want to do & experience, the places I want to go. I have a vision board beside my desk and that keeps me motivated. I’ve also been part of a Growth Mastermind this year and that has kept me accountable to stay on track.

What’s your main marketing took/social media platform? Are there any you want to try out that you haven’t had a chance to yet?

Facebook although I am increasingly using LinkedIn too. I’m planning on trying out Pinterest. I like the fact it gives your content longevity.

What’s next for your business?

I am launching an exclusive Renewed Clarity & Confidence Programme for women in April. It is a mix of group coaching & one to one coaching. I am really excited about it. It’s an 8-week programme for 8 women. I’ve seen the power of group coaching from the Growth Mastermind I’ve been on and from The Soul Traders Club. I’ve learnt so much from Emma Dempsey my coach, but also from the other people on the course.

Do you have any advice for other women looking to start their own business?

Get clear on the mix of strengths, skills and experience you have, not just from your working life but your personal life too. Do a mind map and write it all down. What you bring to your business is totally unique and all too often we undersell our abilities. On the days when self-doubt creeps in look at your mind map.

What do you do to relax?

Get outside and walk the dogs, I do yoga & pilates, I read, catch up with friends for food & a few glasses of wine (I can’t wait to be able to do that again!) and I love to travel & to go new places. I also love a home interior project and I am generally hatching some plan or another.

And lastly, what did you have for breakfast?

Coffee with Coconut Milk and Banana on Toast
